HOW IT WORKS

Add Motion Blur to a Photo in Three Steps

Upload, pick the kind of blur and which way it runs, then download. The person stays sharp and the streaks follow their direction of travel.

or drop a photo here

PNG, JPG, JPEG, WEBP up to 10MB

1

Upload your photo

Drop in a photo of someone moving — a runner, a cyclist, a dancer, a skater. Side-on shots streak best. PNG, JPG, JPEG and WEBP up to 10MB.

2

Choose the blur type

Panning streaks the background, zoom burst pulls lines toward the camera, limb blur moves only arms and fabric. Say left or right, or type your own.

Compare, then download

Drag the slider to check the face stayed sharp against your original, then download it. No watermark on the file you keep.

USE CASES

Four Kinds of Motion Blur, and When to Use Each

Each is a different camera technique. Pick the one that matches how your subject is moving — the person stays sharp in all four.

A man in a hat and long coat crossing the street while the taxi and buildings behind him streak sideways in panning blur.

Panning Blur: Put a City Walk in Motion

A panning shot follows the walker, so he stays the thing you read while the taxi and buildings behind him smear along his line. In camera that takes a slow shutter and a practised swing; here it takes one prompt.

A mountain biker racing down a dirt track toward the camera, with zoom burst streaks radiating from the centre.

Zoom Burst: Pull the Eye Toward a Rider

A zoom burst throws streaks outward from the centre of the frame, as if the lens zoomed while the shutter was open. It suits a rider coming straight at the camera, and keeps the middle of the frame readable.

A smiling red-haired woman carrying yellow mimosa, her hair streaming while the street behind her blurs with motion.

Movement Blur: Keep the Smile, Move the Street

Blur the street and the loose hair as she walks, and keep the face and the flowers crisp. It is the look of a camera moving alongside someone: the setting rushes past and the person you care about stays sharp.

A short-haired woman in a cream sweater standing sharp in a street crossing while the crowd around her blurs with motion.

Still in a Crowd: One Person Stays Sharp

Long-exposure street photos turn the people walking past into ghosts while someone standing still stays sharp. Keep your person, and the crowd pressing around them becomes a swirl of movement.

Two years ago we spent thousands on branded images and professional headshots. Then I found GoStudio.ai — it helps you look like yourself, just on your best, most confident day.

Sometimes, you don't need a photo shoot to look like your future self. You just need a visual story that says, 'I made it.' That's where GoStudio.ai can help.

The founder personally fixed all of my photos. Her commitment to giving everyone an excellent experience makes her a cut above many others. I have to give the experience 5 stars.

The images look so close to my original that if I didn't tell you they were AI-generated, you'd probably never notice. AI is your assistant — not your identity.

Kanika personally hopped on a call to help. That level of professionalism and kindness really impressed me. The AI photo is beautiful — GoStudio.ai makes professional identity accessible.

GoStudio.ai helped me show up as who I'm actually becoming — not who I thought I was supposed to be. It replaced two photographers and a retoucher for our catalog.

Kanika built GoStudio.ai — an app that turns your daily selfies into professional photos. She built it solo, and it's jaw-droppingly good.

I've seen other companies do AI headshots, but I've found her images to be the best. Dozens of images in 30 minutes — why do this yourself?

What Is a Motion Blur Effect?

A motion blur effect is the streak a moving subject leaves in a photo when it moves while the shutter is open. GoStudio’s motion blur filter adds that streak to a sharp photo afterwards — behind a runner, through a crowd or along a dancer’s arms — while the person you choose stays sharp.

What is the difference between motion blur and background blur?

Background blur (bokeh) softens everything behind the subject evenly, the way a wide-open lens does, and has no direction. Motion blur runs one way — along the direction something is moving — which is what makes a still photo read as speed.

How do photographers get motion blur in camera?

With a slow shutter speed. Panning — following the subject with the camera — usually starts around 1/60 to 1/125 s; light trails and ghosted crowds need seconds on a tripod. A filter recreates the look on a photo taken at a fast shutter.

Which kind of motion blur should I use?

Panning for something crossing the frame, like a cyclist or runner. Zoom burst for something coming at the camera. Limb blur when only arms, hair or fabric are moving. Crowd ghosting when one person should stand still in a busy scene.

GoStudio Motion Blur Filter vs other options

  • ■vs Photoshop Motion Blur or Path Blur: Photoshop gives you an angle and a distance, then asks you to mask the subject by hand so it stays sharp. GoStudio takes the direction in words and keeps the person sharp without a mask, in the browser.
  • ■vs shooting it in camera: A real pan needs a slow shutter, a practised swing and several attempts, and the moment has to still be happening. The filter works on a photo you already took at a fast shutter.
  • ■vs a background blur tool: A background blur tool softens the scene evenly with no direction. For speed, the blur has to run along the line of travel — use Blur Background for portraits and this for movement.
